The aerial photos below are from the Netherlands Institute of Military History. The photo below is probably from 1932 because the factory of the Twentsche Bontweverij on the Oldenzaalsestraat (left) has just been demolished. It is striking that the market activities take place behind the old town hall (the Vismarkt) and also on Willemsplein (vegetable market). The current market was still completely built-up and the Marktstraat did not yet exist. The old Rectory and a number of old farms still stood on that spot. At the far left, it is noticeable that behind Café de Reiger (the current youth center Cerberus) the civilized world stopped.

The second photo is from 1938. The new market area was completed, including the entrance building on the Oldenzaalsestraat. Part of the market could be covered in the old, remaining halls of the fur weaving mill. In the background, the new construction of the Hengelose Esstraat stands out, the Troelstrastraat was still completely empty on both sides! At the bottom left you can still see the Brink and in the middle the square of the Telgen stands out. At the end of this square were two small alleys to Molenstraat.
